Buddha Purnima Festival Tour


07th May: Arrival Leh

Reach Leh and get a warm welcome from our ETA representative on day 01 (i.e. 8th May) of the Buddha Purnima festival tour. Check in at the Hotel and leisure for rest of the day, overnight stay at the Hotel.

08th May: Full day At Festival

Witness the famous Buddha Purnima festival on 08th May (One of the most important days of the Buddhists, Buddha Purnima festival is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Buddha and is the day when Buddha got enlightenment. It is celebrated on a full moon day), overnight stay at the Hotel in Leh.

09th May: Leh sightseeing

Go on a sightseeing tour of Phyang Monastery on day 03 of the Buddha Purnima Festival Tour. Phyang Monastery is located at a distance of 17 kilometers away from Leh and belongs to the Red Hat Sect of Buddhism. Later visit Matho and Stakna monastery, overnight stay at the Hotel.

10th May: Khardongla Top Tour

Morning drive for Khardongla Pass, World's highest motorable road at 18380 feet and has been recorded in the Gunnies Book of world Records. At the top enjoy the beauty of snow capped mountains. In the late afternoon explore the famous Leh bazaar for souvenir in the evening. Later visit Leh Jokhang or Leh Mosque by foot, overnight stay at the Hotel

11th May: Leh Sightseeing

Day 05 begins with a full day sightseeing tour of Shey, Thiksey and Hemis monastery. One of the largest and architecturally most impressive Gompas, Thiksey Gompa is about 19 kilometers away from Leh. Whereas, Hemis is the wealthiest and one of the best known and biggest Gompas of Ladakh and is 40 kilometers away from Leh. Stay overnight at the Hotel in Leh.

12th May: Leh to Uletokpo

Drive from Leh to Uletokpo and Enroute visit Alchi monastery on day 06 of the Buddha Purnima Festival Tour. Later also walk to the beautiful village of Mangyu, overnight stay at the Uletokpo camps.

Day 07:13th May: Excursion to Lamayuru

Start your day with an excursion to Lamayuru Monastery on 13th May. Also know as Yung Drung (Swastika), Lamayuru is one of the oldest holy sites in Ladakh. Visit the Rizong monastery and Chulichan nunnery in the afternoon. Overnight stay at the Uletokpo camps.

14th May: Uletokpo to Leh

On 14th May, drive back to Leh and Enroute visit Likir and Spituk monastery. Likir Gompa was founded in 11th century and was rededicated to a different monastic order in the 15th century. Spituk Gompa is beautifully located on a hilltop and provides a beautiful view of the Indus Valley, Visit Stok Palace and museum in the evening, overnight stay at Hotel.

15th May: Departure

Transfer to Leh airport to board flight for the onward destination on day 09 of the Buddha Purnima Festival Tour.
